Don’t meet your mother at the rocket! Meet her at the Netterfield Stage (near the circus!) and hear the Columbia Choral Society perform selections from The Lion King and other choral works.
Sunday, October 13, at 4:30 pm and at 7:00 pm (Netterfield Stage).
The Columbia Choral Society has been invited to sing the National Anthem at the August 29th baseball game between the Columbia Fireflies and the Hickory Crawdads from North Carolina. Game time is 7:05 PM at the Spirit Communications Park on Bull Street. Order your tickets through our Choral Society and you can sit with us at the game. We’ll be signing the Seventh Inning Stretch like you have never heard before! Check this website for more information coming soon. A portion of your ticket purchase will help support our chorus.
As we welcome spring, the Columbia Choral Society has many upcoming events we’d love to share with you!
We hope you will come hear our 2019 Spring Concert, which will be held on Sunday, April 28, at 4:00 P.M., at Main Street United Methodist Church in downtown Columbia, SC. We are excited to be performing Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo. This is an exciting work based upon Psalm 100. Dan Forrest brings alive the words “O be joyful in the Lord all ye lands” by setting the work to seven different languages, along with a music inspired by each land. We are grateful to Main Street United Methodist Church, our many sponsors, friends, and advertisers who are enabling us to produce this wonderful concert.
Another important event for us is Midlands Gives Day, which is May 7th. Midlands Gives is a wonderful organization that gives various nonprofits in the Midlands an opportunity to raise funds. Funds raised by CCS through Midlands Gives will be used not only to offset costs of operation but also to continue our mission of developing the next generation of vocal artists through scholarship and performance opportunities. Giving to CCS through Midlands Gives is simple, can be completed online, and only takes a minute. Even better, you don’t have to wait until May 7; all you have to do is click here and enter the donation amount of your choice.
Finally, we will conclude our Spring season with a performance at Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, SC. Our performance is at 5 pm, Sunday June 2, 2019 at St Philip’s Episcopal Church 142 Church St, Charleston. Piccolo Spoleto, the official outreach arm of Spoleto Festival USA, is produced by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs. There are many wonderful events to see at the festival and thus makes for a great weekend getaway. Click here to find out more information. We hope to see you there!
As always, thank you for your continued participation and support!
