The Columbia Choral Society has planned a series of collaborative concerts for the 2006-2007 season.
Welcome to our 76th season! If you are a long-time supporter of our ensemble or a potential new member of our audience or choir, let me extend a warm welcome on behalf of the Choral Society. We depend on you for our continued growth and success.
We hope that you will attend as many of our concerts this season as you can. All of our concerts will feature collaborations with other musical organizations. We will be joined in our opening concert by the Greater Columbia Children's Chour and the Concert Choir of Kershaw County. In November we will be performing Handel's Messiah in its entirety with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra at the Koger Center. In December, we will join other community and church choir members for a Messiah "Sing-Along" including the traditional holiday portions of the work. A Festival of Choirs<\i> in February will incluce the Palmetto Mastersingers and other local choral ensembles. In April we will again join forces with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance of the hugely exciting choral work Belshazzar's Feast by William Walton. This is the culmination of the 14th and final season of Maestro Nicholas Smith as Music Director and Conductor of the orchestra. Our final concert of the year will be a performance, with other outstanding singers from throughout North America, of Mozart's Mass in C Major, the Coronation Mass, at Carnegie Hall in New York. The performance will be accompanied by the New England Symphonic Ensemble and professional soloists.
