The Choral Society is very pleased to be working with Frances Webb, an accomplished pianist and organist and an experienced accompanist.
A native South Carolinian, she earned a bachelor's degree in piano pedagogy from Coker College. She then spent two years at Indiana University studying with Sidney Foster and completed a master's degree in piano performance.
Seeking a career as a collegiate piano instructor, she accepted a position with Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. There she taught applied piano and piano literature. She was one of the founders of the Young Pianist Competition held each spring at the university. Her performance specialty was accompanying both faculty and students. During her time in San Marcos, she was organist and music director for St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
In her retirement she holds part-time positions with Trinity Cathedral and Columbia Choral Society. She is on the board of AGO (American Guild of Organists) and Symphony League where she is chair of the Arthur Fraser Concerto Competition which is held each year in conjunction with the Southeastern Piano Festival.
