CCS Music Director Qualifications:
- Minimum education requirement:
Required: Masters level degree in
Music
Preferred: Master of Music in
Choral Conducting, Master of Music
Education or Master of Church
Music.
- Experience, demonstrated
knowledge, and mastery of choral and orchestral conducting.
- Exceptional skills in choral
music preparation and rehearsal techniques, including effective
communication skills with untrained, volunteer singers to understand a
wide range of musical concepts.
- Ability to employ team and
group dynamics to work efficiently, effectively and enthusiastically in
rehearsals.
- Ability to lead, inspire and
communicate effectively with the chorus, guest artists and orchestra.
- Possess a broad knowledge of
choral repertoire and an ability to interpret an extensive variety of
musical styles.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge
of the voice and vocal pedagogy techniques.
- Possess a working knowledge of
orchestral instruments and their use to enhance the choral presentation.
- Knowledge and basic understanding
of languages, choral diction and articulation.
- Organizational and leadership
skills to effectively further the goals of the CCS through fundraising,
publicity and strategic planning.
- Basic knowledge of the Greater
Columbia Arts community and the desire to effectively expand
contacts/relationships with other community fine arts organizations.
