From the DirectorCome and share our 77th season with us.
Since the 1930's the Columbia Choral Society has been providing wonderful musical experiences for singers and the concert-going public in the Midlands and throughout South Carolina. The Choral Society has proven remarkably resilient during that period, reinventing itself as the need arose, and constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities.
For more than 75 years talented singers, directors and community leaders have given both time and talent to the nurturing of this remarkable organization. In the beginning there was the extraordinary seminal leadership of Mrs. James Y. Perry and Leonard C. Moltz. It was their charisma and personal magnetism that generated the community response to the choir's early growth. Then, through a series of very talented conductors including Guthrie Darr, Larry Wyatt and Timothy Koch the CCS has grown into a premier community chorus in the Southeast.
This year more than a hundred singers will join together as we prepare to present Songs of Peace to the Columbia community. To all these singers, those in the chorus and community who serve the organization, and to the hundreds of volunteers, concert-goers and lovers of the choral art who attend our concerts every year, thank you.
